Grand Theft Auto III Signed By Jack Thompson
Filed under: Latest News, Merchandise, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)A wonderful piece of gaming irony to finish the year.
A signed copy of Grand Auto III has turned up on eBay by none other than Jack Thompson and quite honestly I’m having difficulty getting me head around this one.
My mind doesn’t want to accept this as real, it shouldn’t exist. Jack Thompson signing a copy of GTA III?
This almost impossible item came about as a result of an open panel debate about violence in video games, participated by Mr. Thompson at this year’s VGXPO in Philadelphia.
The seller has stated that he does not want to sell this, but if sold all proceeds would go to the charity Child’s Play. This would explain the overpriced $4000.00 starting bid and why no one has bid on it just yet. I can understand trying to make money for charity purposes but $4000 is a bit much and over estimates the value of its uniqueness.

In my continuing quest to find pretty maps for games, I have come across a totally awesome map of Metroid on the NES.
This map is so big you can only see a couple of rooms at a time so I’ve scaled it down to fit it on Level Select, but lost all the detail (can’t win) if you want to see the original in all its glory follow the link below.
For those that missed my previous finds, you will find a complete Super Mario Bros. Map here and a partial map of Sword of Mana here, I should point out that these maps contain spoilers.

OMG this takes me back!
Steve Furber was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Years honours list.
Professor Furber of the University of Manchester has been has involved with home computing since the 70’s, when studying at Cambridge University he got involved in a club for computer hobbyists.
It was during this time when he was approached to work for British computing firm Acorn, and shortly after joining started working on the BBC Micro. The incredibly successful BBC Micro was part of an initiative by the British Broadcasting Corporation to improve computer literacy, initially it was only estimated to sell around 12,000 units but the BBC went on to sell 1.5 million and became the corner stone of computer education in Britain during the 80’s.
After working on the BBC Professor Furber went on to co design the revolutionary ARM chip, the first one was made in 1985 and amazingly they are still used today in mobile products like iPods and mobile phones.
The Professor is currently working on a computer which is intended to mimic the complex interactions of the human brain, which will be comprised of his famed ARM chip and is currently known as the Brain box.

Every gamer knows Doom and any self respecting gamer has at least played part of Doom. It’s a game that is just as hallowed as Mario, Sonic or Street Fighter II.
Doom was originally intend to be a story driven shooter with an intricate plot, much like Half-Life was, (released six years later using a heavily modified version id’s Quake engine) the gameplay however moved towards the fast paced action shooter we know it is today.
The Doom bible was written by Tom Hall and is essentially the games design document, detailing all aspects of what the game would eventfully be. Tom conceived an Alien world known as Tei Tenga and including five playable characters, each with their own unique personalities and abilities. John Carmack disapproved of a detailed plot and conflicts surrounding it development led to the resignation of Tom Hall.
Unfortunately most of us weren’t present during the creation of Doom; we can at least take a glimpse into what Doom might have actually been like if Tom’s ideas were taken onboard. And we can only speculate on how this alternative Doom would have changed gaming as we know it today.

How random is this?
Fortunately for myself and a couple of friends we had the luxury of having the precious few days off between Christmas and New Year. We decided it would be a great opportunity to get together and play some games, one of the games we played was Ghost Squad on the Wii and naturally our mood gravitated towards the Paradise mode.
The idea of running around with Dolphin water guns and shooting at bikini clad terrorists sounded like too much fun, and it was.

Anyway, Kotaku has just posted some info about a Shark shaped light gun for the Wii at Deal extreme that would make a fine addition to the crazy world of Ghost Squad’s Paradise Mode. Who knows it might make you feel like your closer to the action…

It is said that if you collect all three parts, you will complete the legendary Air Ride machine…
It’s broken into three parts:
- Dragoon Part A, the nose cone…
- Dragoon Part B, the hull…
- and Dragoon Part C, the tail.

Of course, given the amount of preparation required, it boasts tremendous firepower! If it strikes you, consider it a one-hit KO.
The battle for this item is hot. Hit an opponent who has one of the Dragoon parts to make them drop it. You also drop the parts when you lose a life. If you want to get a part in hand, then beat up your opponent!

The same can be said for Smash Balls – those, too, are items that everyone really wants badly, so the scramble can be quite funny!
The joy of finally getting all three. Your enemies doing whatever they can to flee. It’s like we’ve added a delicious new spice, so I hope you’ll enjoy it during multiplayer matches.

Dedicated Smash Bros. Forum has scooped that Smash Bros has finally been finished and is going into mass production.
This is obviously excellent news, it brings the game one step closer to being released (Ok, for anyone outside of Europe its one step closer).
On the down side it now means that no more work is being done on the game and if your favorite character is not in the game by now it means they might not be showing up.
The buzz surrounding Megaman is that he is not going to appear, but what of some of the past fighters?
- Luigi
- Dr. Mario
- Capt Falcon
- Falco
- Young Link
- Ganondorf
- Sheik
- Mr. Game & Watch
These aren’t all the characters listed, but a handful that haven’t been confirmed as yet. Unfortunately for most of these characters they are “clone” characters, something Masahiro Sakurai has indicated he wanted to see less of this time.
If you believe internet rumour, there was talk of a smash blow out where a lot of information was spilled at once and now the game is finished it makes sense that this is done simply because there will be no last minute changes to the game now.
It’s make or break time for these Nintendo characters, are they in or out?

In the last game, you dropped the coins you collected into a prize-dispensing machine for a chance to win trophies. That was fine and all, but the guys over at Smash HQ got to thinking that there wasn’t really any strategy involved.
So this time, They have dropped the crane game. Instead, you’ll be earning your trophies in THIS kind of game!

Tilt left and right to change the angle of the launcher and press the button to roll coins out. Basically, the coins themselves are your bullets. (Read on …)

Filed under: Latest News, Nintendo, Smash Bros. DOJO | Comments (0)
When talking about Sonic’s Final Smash, there is no other option than Super Sonic!
Use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to transform. Race through the air at reckless speed!

He has tremendous inertia and is hard to control, but his top speed is top class!
Those who are witnessing this move should plan on dodging!
If you boost your speed recklessly, you’ll pass by people too quickly, making it easier for them to dodge.
Speed control is important with this Final Smash.

And also we are given the “Sonic the Hedgehog: Angel Island Zone” tune too!
The song used as the background music for the Sonic the Hedgehog Joins the Brawl movie is called “Live and Learn”. As you can tell by listening, it’s a pretty hot song, and it has many fans. Oh… You can, of course, enjoy the original version of the song in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as well.
And the person who created that song, Jun Senoue, has also arranged another song for Brawl!
It is “Angel Island Zone”. It’s a song from “Sonic the Hedgehog 3″, in which Knuckles first appeared.
