Daniel Roswell @ 10:31 amWii and DS to hook up in Ghostbusters
Filed under: Latest News, Nintendo | Comments (0)According to reports from Videogaming 247, the Wii incarnation of the new Ghostbusters game being developed by Red Fly will enable you to link up and use your Nintendo DS as a Ghostbuster style PKE meter to help you detect and measure Psycho-Kinetic Energy emitted by ghosts.
Whilist the idea of connecting hand-held systems with consoles isn’t a new idea in itself, it is one of the first to link up the DS with the Wii and might well even give the title a different angle to its ‘big brother’ version coming to the 360 (which is being developed by Terminal Reality). Who knows, it might also give you a reason to play this game on the Wii…
Personally I like the idea of using the DS with the Wii in this way however I can’t see exactly how it will work when both hands are already pre-occupied with the Wii-mote and nunchuck!
Steve Harry @ 11:49 pmBrain Training Good For Your Brain
Filed under: Latest News, Nintendo | Comments (0)
There’s been lots of talk about whether games like “Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?” or “Big Brain Academy” are actually beneficial to your brain’s health.
Scientists over at the University of Michigan suggest that Brain-training efforts designed to improve working memory can also boost scores in general problem-solving ability and improve fluid intelligence.
Although the performance of untrained controls improved slightly, the trained subjects showed a significant performance improvement, which increased with time spent training.
While this document doesn’t explicitly endorse any products, it’s good to know that all that brain training time has not been spent in vain.

Daniel Roswell @ 9:50 pmWe Can Remember It For You Wholesale
Filed under: Microsoft, Sony | Comments (0)What would you say if I said there will soon be a method of analysing your Burnout Paradise save file (PS3) to tell you where to find all the incomplete discoverables?
What would you say if it was Criterion that were the people responsible for this feature? Would you be pleased or disappointed? Personally I’m a bit miffed as to why Criterion would want to do this, I realise any developer wants their game to be experienced to the fullest but is this a step too far?
Or is it just me? am I not up with the times? What ever happened to the satisfaction of completing a game without the help of guides? This will only available for the PS3, but for those of you looking for help until this feature is fully operational or own an Xbox, you can wonder over to this interactive map of Paradise city (also endorsed by Criterion).
Daniel Roswell @ 9:22 pmJackie Chan Loves The Gaming?
Filed under: Latest News, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)It seems that Jackie Chan’s latest movie The forbidden Kingdom with Jet Li is overflowing with gaming references although one, according to siliconera’s spencer, is better than all the rest for giving some screen time to Sega’s now defunct Dreamcast.
after Jason wakes up from his dream, you can see a Dreamcast on the left hand corner of the screen underneath his TV.
This is not the first time one of Jackie’s movies have been a platform for gaming references, anyone who has seen City Hunter will surely remember the scene where Jackie and fellow cast members ape Street Fighter II

Daniel Roswell @ 3:35 pmA Sign Of The (Arcade) Times
Filed under: Latest News, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)
Arcade gaming has been around for about thirty seven years (probably why the average age of a gamer is 33 and not 12 some people would have you believe.) and if you’ve ever wanted to take a closer look at your arcade heritage, or even see what was happening in arcades when your were born, well now you can.
This interactive arcade time line was started by Kevin Williams, author of the The Stinger Report and was even contributed on by our friends over at Arcade Heroes. It starts a long, long time ago in November 1971 with Computer Space by Nutting Associates and currently ends with Street Fighter IV in June 2008.
A quick search tells me there is no such time line for Console gaming, something that will need to be rectified!

If You Prick Us, Do We Not Bleed?
Filed under: Latest News, Microsoft, Sony | Comments (0)Rockstar has officially responded to the recent news that GTV 4 has already been leaked onto the internet for download and the response is surprisingly personal.
It’s difficult. It’s hard to think that so many are willing to download the games and are unwilling to support us with all the efforts we put into it.
It’s refresing to have a more human repsonse to the piracy issue, Rockstar truly believe in their product and rightly so. In fact they can’t understand why anyone would want anything other than the geniune article and by stealing this game you are not recognising Rockstar’s comitment and effort to producing such a quality title.

As talked about in previous posts I love Tee’s and I’m always on the lookout for the next one and I think I’ve found it! Simply titled “MIGHTY KONG” it shows the classic scene from King Kong on top of the Empire State building but instead of biplanes there are a load of Nintendo characters trying to stop him!
This is a “must have” in my opinion and a steal for only $19.95!

As is standard with all blockbuster films these days, it’s not complete without an accompanying video game tie-in.
Iron Man is this year’s first movie video game to hit the shelves, with it’s release in just five days time I thought I would take a look at the XBOX 360 to see if it’s any good (after all that’s what it’s for).

Over at Mightygodking you will find quite a few Atari box art scans for genuine games with a slight twist, the titles and descriptions have been changed to reflect the poorly concieved artwork.

This is something that I think we all would say is it never crossed there minds, “The last Pinball manufacture!” I know that in this time and age, we don’t really think about pinball as a gaming medium but back in 1977 this was the cutting edge tech of the gaming industry with over 27,000 pinball machines being made each year, witch is a lot of machines even in the time of the PS3 or 360. So what does it do? Well the Star flashes on and off and plays the invincibility song just like the Super Mario Brothers game and that’s about it really, but hay it sure looks cool!

All in all, it’s a good day to be Nintendo. Despite all the doom and gloom in the world economy, the games giant has today reported that there annual operating profit has more than doubled this financial year - smashing many of their own records.
Clearly you don’t need to be a brain surgeon to know that demand for the Wii, the DS and its games have been huge and this has clearly contributed to the huge surge in profits. In the last year, Nintendo has reported selling 18.61 million Wii consoles and 30.31million Nintendo DS’s helping Nintendo on its way to record profits.
All in all, Nintendo’s operating profit for the last financial year stood at £2.4billion pounds compared to a ‘pitiful’ £1.1billion in the previous year.
If that wasn’t pleasing enough, the future also looks rosey. Nintendo are predicting another strong year in 2008/09 but did conceed that growth would slow.
Well done Nintendo
