With all this talk over the weeks of Apple starting its way in the games industry Wes Vasher has made the DS Air a sort of joining of the worlds two best companies Apple & Nintendo (Well that’s my opinion anyway!)
I have to say that I would rush out to the shops to buy one if it was a real product, but I personally can’t see these to companies working on anything like this in the near future.
Buy we can all hope can’t we!!!
Mike Ballan @ 9:47 pmMega Man 9 Wii Ware

Mega Man goes back to his roots and loves it up retro style in an 8 bit side scrolling shooting fest for the Wii Ware.
US gaming mag Nintendo Power has revealed that in Mega Man’s next installment the blue bomber returns to his traditional gameplay style, and on top of this he’s also going 8 bit too.
In a move to appease fans of the original series, developer Inti Creates, who created the Mega Man Zero and ZX titles, are not only to moving the looks back to 8 bit but the sound and gameplay too. If fact what the team is trying to do is recreate a NES game for the Virtual Console, this game will be every bit the 8 bit revival and don’t expect the game to be easy either.
Every NES veteran (myself included) will tell you that the Mega Man games had a punishing difficulty; one wrong move would see you blown into little pieces. Blasting your way through eight levels of ludicrous difficulty only to find yourself toe to toe against a seemingly impossible boss was standard fare. This latest Mega Man will make no exceptions and give no quarter either, with the eight bosses named as Magma Man, Galaxy Man, Jewel Man, Concrete Man, Hornet Man, Plug Man, Tornado Man, and Splash Woman, the game gets harder as each day passes.

Daniel Roswell @ 1:09 amMillionth Spore Creation
Filed under: Latest News, Nintendo, PC | Comments (0)I have steered clear of posting Spore creations, not because I think it’s a waste of time (well actually I do), but because there just seems to be a bewildering amount of creatures to choose from. Funnily enough there’s far more than I realised, this rather cute chappy above represents the one millionth creature created which is quite amazing when you think about it.
Spore’s creature creator was released on the 17th of June and eight days later we have already reached the one millionth, its name is “Sapiusgeenus” and was created by Spore user FlamingChidori. If one million was reached in just eight days it’s fair to assume that by the time the actual game is released on the 5th of September there will be about nine million creatures poised to run amuck in the game.
The get either the trial, or full creature creature visit Spore’s official website

Technology mag T3 has seen the future and it’s sleek and sexy!
An artists impression of what the Wii would look like in 2010 takes Nintendo’s very functional but not so sexy Wii remote and gives it a Gok Wan style make over, with added mind control.
While I’m not so certain of the Tomorrow’s World style peek into the future, I certainly do like the look and if Nintendo were inclined to give the Wii a redesign they wouldn’t go far wrong with this.

Daniel Roswell @ 1:12 pmBrian Fehdrau Interview
Filed under: Nintendo, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)Secret of Evermore for the Super Nintendo represents one of the last of Square’s RPGs for Nintendo, conceptual work for the N64 shows they had started, but ultimately switched to PlayStation. It would be about eleven years before Square finally work with Nintendo and in that time failed to recapture their peerless 16bit masterpieces.
Corbie Dillard from VC Reviews has just recently interviewed Brian Fehdrau, the lead programmer for Secret of Evermore who gives an insight into working for Square and with Nintendo in the 90’s. The interview is very informative, but for me the most interesting parts are the discussion about Secret of Mana 2 and why it never got released outside of Japan (Fehdrau states the game was too buggy), why they never made a sequel to SoE and finally Square Enix’s reluctance to adopt the Virtual Console.

Daniel Roswell @ 9:36 amWar Of The Servers

There are very few examples where games of movies or movies of games are actually any good. The best game example would probably James Bond because there have been multiple attempts at making a Bond game and only one has succeeded, this off course is Goldeneye on the N64. The best movie example would have to be Mortal Kombat, which is quite depressing since it was released 13 years ago.
That being said, one area where movies and games collide and generally speaking are really quite good is Machinima. Even though War of the Servers is based on the musical War of the Worlds the team behind it, from PHWOnline And RS Films, show Hollywood how to properly adapt one media into another.
Don’t take my word for it though check it out for yourself (Read on …)
Daniel Roswell @ 12:44 pmCall of Duty World at War Trailer
Filed under: Microsoft, PC | Comments (0)Another post, another trailer and another war. Although instead of being set a far, far, away, it’s just set a long time ago. For the next installment of the CoD series joint developer Treyarch takes up the reins and takes us back to WWII.
Watching the trailer I get the impression that we will be fighting the war from both sides of the battle, playing as both American and Japanese troops. Also the title World at War implies that the game will deal with multiple locations and perspectives. You never know us Brits and even the French resistance could pop up and “help” the Americans win the war.
Daniel Roswell @ 9:23 pmStar Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels
Filed under: Latest News, Nintendo | Comments (0)SW CW: Lightsaber duels is the Wii exclusive movie tie for the Clone Wars animated motion picture. The game which has been built from the ground up centres around lightsabre duels using the Wii remote. For a lot of people this has been high on their list of games to be made since the Wii was first announced and hopefully this being a movie game tie-in, it won’t suck like a lot of other tie-ins.

Daniel Roswell @ 9:02 pmGTA Movie Never Going To Happen
Filed under: Latest News | Comments (0)In arguebly the best news i’ve heard all year we will never see GTA turned into a movie, Why? I hear you ask.
This is still only a rumour but what it boils down to is the Ron Howard movie by the same name. The film is basis for the settlement where Rockstar will never make a GTA film and Fox will never make a game about the film. If you ask me this sounds a bit fishy and a bit too convenient for both parties, whom is suspect have no interest either projects anyway.
The cold hard fact of the matter is that film/game crossovers are a rancid waste of time and money for all concerned. Rockstar should know this, so in a move to stop their golden bull from being turned into celluloid poison probably entered this agreement to guarantee this never happens.
Daniel Roswell @ 11:19 amIocane! I Bet My Life On It!
Filed under: Latest News, PC, Video | Comments (0)The Princess Bride game is now available to download from the official game website.
An unlikely choice for a game, this movie tie-in which comes 19 years late follows the basic story-line of Westley and Princess Buttercup falling in love.
If the idea of playing a game that revolves around marital bliss doesn’t sound manly enough (sounds like a kissing book), so long as the game retains some of the humour of the film or borrows some of the quotes, even the hardened of gamers should have no problem playing this.
Buy and download the Princess Bride here and for the unititiated there is also a free demo.
Daniel Roswell @ 5:10 pmKnife Crime Up Because Of Games
Filed under: Latest News | Comments (0)Says Boris Johnson anyway, although it sounds like the recently appointed Mayor of London is trying to score some brownie points with the London going public.
“We must show young people that knives are not cool, and for that we need positive role models. I want to counteract the damaging influences drug-addled celebrities and violent video games and the lure of the life in the gang by providing opportunities.”
While it is great that the Mayor is taking an interest in our fair city, what is disappointing is there is no evidence to support his theory. It was merely plucked from his (or his aide’s) imagination to sound like he was actually doing something about the problem. What he is doing is stirring up both fear amongst Londoners and negative press toward an industry he clearly doesn’t understand.
Yes there is a problem and it’s your job to sort it (sorry but you wanted the job so much), but really if you’re going to question one form of media then surely it stands to reason that all media has a responsibility. As for celebrities maybe if they were actually charged for their drug abuse it wouldn’t be seen as “ok”?. Although one area that might require special attention is gang culture and a child’s misguided need to a carry a knife for protection.

Daniel Roswell @ 12:44 amAndrew Bell’s Nurikabe
Filed under: Arts & Crafts, Latest News, Nintendo | Comments (0)
Does this guy look familiar?
Well it should as this guy is called Nurikabe other than being the inspiration for Super Mario’s Whomp. It’s also from Japanese folklore and below is the entry from Wikipedia:
Nurikabe is a yokai, or spirit, from Japanese folklore. It manifests as a wall that impedes or misdirects walking travelers at night. Trying to go around is futile as it extends itself forever. Knocking on the lower part of the wall makes it disappear.”
Looking on Neatorama.com I saw the above Nurikabe by Andrew Bell and all I want now is my very own Nurikabe to sit on my desk! You can get yourself a cool painting or print over at I Heart Cool Stuff.
