Not only does the Darksiders look like it is going to be a whole lot of butt kicking fun but it appears that they’re dropping the big bucks in order to get Mark Hamill to do some voice over work. You may be wondering where Mark Hamill has been since Star Wars and you may be surprised to find out that he has been doing animated films for quite some time now.
Below we have the developer diary for Darksiders; I don’t usually like to post these videos because they can be dreadfully boring but you gotta see this to believe it. I never had guessed that Mr. Hamill could have such an interesting voice.
Here is a somewhat long but interesting video which focuses on Mark Hamill’s role as The Joker in the Batman cartoon. I remember watching this show and never knowing who did the voice of the Joker and never found out until years later. I was rather shocked that Mark Hamill was still in the business and equally as shocked to see that he could actually do some damn good acting as opposed to some of his film career.
In Darksiders Hamill dons the role of The Watcher, who is assigned to look over the main character named War. War is, interestingly enough, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. According to the story, the apocalypse has happened prematurely and War is thought to be to blame. Stripped of most his powers and sentenced to walk the earth for eternity, War decides to try to clear his name instead. The Watcher is War’s guide and warden, making sure that War doesn’t step outside of his bounds.
Rather interesting story if you ask me, but I have always been a sucker for biblical Armageddon stuff. Is it me or does this game have a little of that Shadowman vibe to it? Check out the gameplay video below courtesy of IGN.com
