A Short Visual History of Videogames is an amazing 3 minute long “Visual Essay” for Kyle Downes final year uni assignment and boy does this guy have some modeling/texturing/lighting/compositing skills. For his final year assignment he decided to make the video below about the history of videogame consoles, from 1972 when Ralph Baer invented the Odyssey with Bob Tremblay, to the launch of the current generation of consoles and beyond.
Now this 3 minute long video took Kyle 3 to 4 months to achieve, with all consoles modeled, textured and rendered in Maya 8.5, composited in After Effects 6.5, sound effects and editing was done in Premiere Pro. And I must say it’s some of the nicest work I’ve seen and this guy in my eyes deserves a Honors!
Well done Kyle for bringing us this great “History of Videogames” and i look forward to maybe more work like this in the future!
