Samus Speaks For The First Time

While it’s disappointing that this video doesn’t detail new game play or some sweet segments where aliens are blown to bits, what it lacks for in action it makes up for in breaking new ground. This is the first time that we have ever heard Samus Aran speak full sentences’ we actually hear her true voice instead of the grunts and groans we have come accustomed to. Not only do you get a good taste...  (read more »)

A Very Level Select Night Out

I have been meaning to post these for some time but keep forgetting. No time like the present to take advantage of sharing some pics of A Very Level Select Night Out. The Houston Texas division of Level Select (which only includes me at the moment) ventured out to the 2009 Arcade Expo at the end of last year and it turned out to be one incredibly nostalgic night. I did drag along my wife but she couldn’t...  (read more »)

Try Me – Balloon In A Wasteland

Classic awesomeness.  Balloon In A Wasteland is classic tower defense with bad ass guns.  Found over at ArmorGames it was created by John Cooney.   What I love about this game is the upgradable weapons and the scrolling bar at the bottom that shows you what is coming up.  It really mixes up the violence with some time to think about your gameplan.   Sadly I didn’t make it past Wave III. ...  (read more »)

Mr. Saturn Invades Tokyo – Godzilla Buys One

As it seems from the pictures below, Mr. Saturn has invaded Tokyo.  The Mr. Saturn race of extra terrestrials apparently like Japanese arcades and they have stuffed themselves into the game cabinets.  One brave person sought out these mysterious beings and brought back these pics: Found at Gonintendo.com, it seems these pictures originated from a Japanese blog site that can be found here. For those of...  (read more »)

One Byte Cafe – Built on the Silcone of Our Forefathers

Some could consider these to be dark hours in the history of gaming. With an overabundance of developers compounded with a struggling economy, we could very well be seeing the making of another video game crash. It could happen today just like it did in 1988 when a flood of games caused an oversaturation of content in the marketplace. Many big budget titles lose money if they don’t have sales into the...  (read more »)

Sonic is F’ing Back!

Did any of us really doubt that Project Needlemouse was anything other than Sonic the Hedgehog 4? I bet most of you didn’t even give a damn what it was and I can’t blame you. Sonic games have pretty much sucked since they moved into the third dimension and I, for one, had given up hope on a good Sonic game ever again. Alas, Sonic is back where he freaking belongs in good old 2D (well it almost...  (read more »)

Smash Alignment

If you ever played Dungeons and Dragons, the dice game and not the video game, then you probably the whole process you went through when creating a character. Among the many attributes that you rolled your dice for you also chose your alignment. Alignment was the type of character that you would be throughout the game and it defined the very essence of your soul. Do you see that picture above? It may not look...  (read more »)

Valve thinks Brits don’t talk?

As I was surfing the web for my morning gaming news, not only did I feel like an old man opening the daily paper but I also ran into an interesting quote over at Destructiod.com. They have Chet Faliszek (pictured above) from Left 4 Dead 2 going on record with a statement that was a little perturbing. The Valve writer says, in a nutshell, that Brits don’t communicate when playing online. The distressing...  (read more »)

Newest Video of Tank! Tank! Tank!

This is the newest arcade game from Namco that has already been given a release in Japan. It has also been confirmed for a US release and hopefully soon we will hear about European release. The below video showcases some of the different enemies and weapons you will see in this sit down style shooter. This game was definitely meant for over-the-top action and it seems like it is going to be an insane amount...  (read more »)

Independence – Part 3

XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare sing a similar refrain; sell affordable, addictive, relatively small in storage size, fun games that people won’t be afraid to invest in.  Let’s face it, we will definitely hesitate when choosing which full priced retail game we want to buy.  Most of us would be less hesitant on a game that made a smaller footprint in our wallets.  This is how indie games found a new and...  (read more »)

Nintendo’s Out For Blood – Pirate Blood

I’m sure most Wii owners have noticed that soft familiar blue glow on the front of their consoles recently.  Just like me I bet they turned on their Wii in hopes of a message from one of their buds but instead received a message from Nintendo.  I knew what this message was as soon I noticed who it was from and reluctantly opened it.  I was unsurprised that there was another Wii update being released and...  (read more »)

Independence – Part II

Indie games are already thriving quite well on the PC but, like Nintendo’s ‘Blue Ocean Strategy’, there is always room for expanding your audience and hopefully filling your pockets in the meantime.  Since indie games are typically a direct to PC release they rarely need the use of a publishing company to assist them with the financial burden of distribution.  Without the use of a publisher...  (read more »)

TANK! TANK! TANK!

Namco Bandai is my new hero in the arcades.   They are bringing us an intense tank game that pits you against the most ludicrous of enemies, be it a robot disguised as a building or a three headed hydra.  This game is brimming with excitement while oozing fun.  Coming soon to Japanese arcades and hopefully everywhere else, we bring you TANK! TANK! TANK! Even though this game may look like a conventional...  (read more »)

Independence

The current generation of home consoles has opened up the Pandora’s box of fresh ideas and inventive gameplay.  XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare are, of recent, the quintessential ingredients in the ever evolving face of the gaming industry.  These pipelines of downloadable yumminess have brought the beauty of independent gaming into the limelight.  While these avenues may not be a cornucopia of indie games...  (read more »)

PC Gaming With Any Retro Pad

Let’s say, hypothetically, that you and your best bud are plopping down in front of your PC to play and emulated version of the NES Contra by Konami. You have always been a hardcore Nintendo fan but your bud was one of those diehard Sega fans from way back in the day and you both wish you could play Contra with the controller of your choice. Well your dreams have just become a reality with an interesting...  (read more »)
