Filed under: Editiorial, PC, Steam | Comments (0)The other day Valve announced Steam Cloud, a free Steam system that will retain users’ saved games and configuration files indefinitely.
As well as online save files Steam Cloud will also remember your key mappings too. If offline the service will store any saved information for when you next connect and then automatically update your profile. Other features Valve are working on are auto driver updates, calendar functionality and a system-requirement checker to make sure your PC can play the games you want to play. (Read on …)

Team Fortress 2 Skins
Filed under: Latest News, Modification, PC, Steam | Comments (0)One of the great things about PC gaming is all the user generated content you can find, download and use for free. There are a lot of sites dedicated to offering free content to use on your favourite game, some of the content will modify an aspect of the gameplay, whereas some like the following skins simply change the appearance of characters or weapons.
If you fancy having a bit of fun which the appearance of your characters in Team Fortress 2 take a look at some of the better skins I’ve found at FPS Banana

Yes, yes I know what you’re thinking “how can something be both new and improved?” Good question.
Truth be told I’m not sure, but the marketing guys told us that they polled a random demographic of shoppers buying washing detergent. They found that 67% said they would buy a product with “new & improved” as apposed to the brands that don’t.
Not quite sure how this translates into websites, but they assured me it does. (Read on …)

The team behind the Goldeneye mod for Valve’s Source engine had been a little quiet of late and there were concerns that the team had stopped working on the popular N64 title. It turns out that they haven’t, they’ve just been too busy working on the mod to let anyone know of their progress.
For an outline of what’s been happening with the Goldeneye Source, some shiny new screens, an animated clip and a beefed up cradle track. (Read on …)

Today it occurred to me that we rely on the internet a lot more than we used too and one reason for this is the “world wide web” wasn’t around until the 1990’s and two a lot more people have access to the internet.
But what happend before blogs like the Smash Dojo were around how did we know about games coming out well they used paper of course and with this in mind I thought I would try and find the old adverts that were made before the internet was around and share them with you.

The final part of my top ten games that i would love to see on Nintendo’s Virtual Console.
The criteria is simple, the games on the list have never been released in Europe, something that was criminal at the time and i think it’s only fair that Nintendo redeems themselves by uploading these games on to the Virtual Console. (Read on …)
Daniel Roswell @ 12:57 amWhat we were playing!
Filed under: Writers Block | Comments (0)
As it is coming up to the end of the year we thought it would be a good idea to take a look at what we as a Level Select team have been playing over the last 12 months. After some careful thought it occurred to us that we have been using the Wii to play more GameCube than Wii games, about 70% GameCube to around 30% Wii games!
This isn’t the case of the Wii not having good games to play, quite the opposite in fact, it’s just that there are some classic if not legendary games on the Cube that when together, we have to play!
When I think back to the games on the Cube that I (Hobo) have played most this year, the fist has to be Super Smash Bros. Melee (with that rare sight of 4 Wavebirds plugged into the Wii that is a special sight indeed, Image above). Next it’s Mario Kart Double Dash (you can’t beat Baby Park with random carts and players!).
On the Wii itself I would have to say it has been Super Paper Mario & The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (and I still can’t find all of these heart pieces unlike Dan & Adam!).
But I’m sure this will change as we will soon get Super Smash Bros. Brawl which I reckon will totally absorb my free time for most of the year!
Mike.
What have I been playing?
If it’s multiplayer then the games that have dominated most would be Mario Kart DD, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Maybe because they are tried and tested games but no matter what we were playing it always came down to these three.
This changed slightly when Halo 3 came out and instead we found during the autumn months we played only Halo, but then it was brand new so we had to get our fill.
When it comes to single player gamers, they changed as often as the wind, I seem to remember at the beginning of 2007 my gaming was geared towards the Wii and the Twilight Princess. I didn’t complete the Twilight Princess as quickly as most and this wasn’t due to lack of skill, but more out of trying to savour every minute of the game.
After this gaming depended greatly on my mood or attention span, with bouts of Halo 1 & 2 or GTA: SA on the XBOX (a game I’ve still yet to complete). Steam squeezed out a couple of months when I got in some old school Half-Life loving before the Orange Box was released, which has been played almost constantly ever since.
Then back to the Wii for bouts of Heatseeker, Excite Truck and Paper Mario. Recently it’s been Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Mario Galaxy.
I had it particularly tough on the XBOX 360 when I managed to wipe my gamer tag in October, I found myself playing Halo 3Â and Crackdown relentlessly, trying to regain all achievements and progress I had previously reached. For some reason I wasn’t bothered about any of the other games, probably because I wasn’t bothered at the time I was playing them.
Anyway that’s been my year; I hope this wasn’t too boring.
Daniel.
