Space Invaders Pillow
Filed under: Latest News, Merchandise, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)
Not content with allowing Nintendo to be the only company to squeeze the life out it’s classics, Tatio is joining in with of all things a set of pillows.
These pillows are part of the 30th Anniversary of Space Invaders and Taito’s been celebrating the historic event with numerous merchandise offers, the latest being these pillows. While these pillows are awesome I can’t help but think they’re lacking a duvet to accompany them, they feel like only half of a product. The cynic in me suspects that will arrive later. (Read on …)
Daniel Roswell @ 1:04 pmMaster Chief Disguised As Samus Aran
Filed under: Arts & Crafts, Latest News, Merchandise, Microsoft, Nintendo | Comments (1)
So would you call him Master Aran (sounds vaguely “Mysterious Kung Fu Master” to me) or Samus Chief? Or could this be the Bounty Hunter herself?
This custom paint job for the Master Chief was born out of the result of speculation about how closely the Master Chief looks to Samus Aran. The figure was made using the Body and the arms of the EOD variant armour and the C.Q.B variant helmet, it was then painted to match Samus’ Varia suit.
Created by eBay user deathwind000, who promises the paint won’t rub or chip off, it can be yours for a very reasonable starting bid of $1 and shipping for $7.

Filed under: Apparel, Latest News, Merchandise, Nintendo, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)From the mind of French designer John Nouanesing comes the Geekini, a very desirable NES controller (female not included). This is only a concept piece at the moment (aren’t they all), but if it were to ever go into production then you can take the Wiimote and shove it, I’m going old skool.

Filed under: Latest News, Merchandise, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)Now this is my kind of arcade machine… it’s yellow :)
Looking like something from the control deck of a Pan American spaceplane, Martijn Koch’s Retro Space packs in arcade-quality Sanwa joysticks, pushbuttons, an Su20 trackball and includes over 100 licensed arcade classics and a suite of emulators. The cabinet also functions as an HD media jukebox, with a 2×90 watt speaker system and everything visual displayed on a 24-inch 1920×1200 monitor.
As expected there is no price on the website, but you can contact Martijn Koch for a price list and order form.

Filed under: Latest News, Merchandise, Nintendo | Comments (1)Jenga, the classic tower building game turned pub favourite is having a 21st century make over.
The makeover sees Jenga fabulously glammed up into a variety of concepts, from sports teams and seasonal styles to a girly pink and an “extreme Jenga” one. Of course it’s the Donkey Kong one that piques the interest and quite rightly too, since the iron girders of Donkey Kong serves a perfect replacement and Mario looks right at home on too.
Importers can get their grubby mitts on Donkey Kong Jenga from the US Amazon site.

Link Amigurumi
Filed under: Arts & Crafts, Latest News, Merchandise, Nintendo | Comments (1)I know this is impossibly cute , but first off, I had no idea what Amigurumi meant so I had to “Wiki it” to find out. The best way to describe it is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures.
Possibly because it is Link I think this is the best Amigurumi (check me out and my new vocabulary!) i’ve ever seen. The level of detail is almost unbelievable, even down to his Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Lon Lon Milk and Ocarina, which have also been pain stakenly recreated in miniture form.
The artist artoo1121 has recreated a whole bevy of Star Wars and Lord of the Ring characters to this cute Amigurumi style, which can all be viewed on his Flikr page. Also if you would like to purchace any of his work you can do so via his Etsy page, called Geek Central Station.

Daniel Roswell @ 9:58 pmTetris Ice Cubes
Filed under: Merchandise, Nintendo | Comments (1)I have this weird thing where I love geeky stuff, but I love it even more if it looks average in the sense that the average non-geek wouldn’t recognise its origins.
This is not born out of an embarrassment to being a geek myself, which I’m not, but more out of a case of identifying other geeks and testing one another’s geekness (lame, I know). This particular item should fit into this category (if only just) because at causal glance it’s just another ice cube tray, on closer inspection the Tetris blocks become apparent.
With these and the awesome Lego ice trays even my drinks will be suitably geeky

Filed under: Latest News, Merchandise, Microsoft, Nintendo, PC, Sony | Comments (0)Gaming has had a bad press for a long time now, but it seems that aside from some very vocal and very biased opinions people finally seem to be coming around to the idea that computer games aren’t the cause of life’s little problems.
