Ryu’s statue is based on the recently released Ninja Gaiden II for the XBOX 360, He comes equipped with his signature Dragon Sword, Eclipse Scythe, and a Falcon’s Talon. At 1/4 scale, Ryu stands at 18 inches tall and when you include his Eclipse Scythe, he stands at 31 inches tall. New Sonic Unleashed video!

Filed under: Sega, Video | Comments (2)

So we have been given a new video of Sonic Unleashed (Below) and all I have to say is SPEED!!!! It looks so fast that I couldn’t keep up with the game. Sure all the backgrounds look amazing but it looks so fast that I don’t think you could control Sonic unless you knew what was going to happen before it did in a sort of Minority report style! Your New Gaming Calendar

Filed under: Events, Latest News, Microsoft, Nintendo, PC, Sega, Sony | Comments (0)

Sourcing game release dates can be an absolute pain in the arse, not because of delays by developers but simply because there has never been one place where you could go to get the dates.

That has all changed now thanks to http://www.game-releases.net, which has been set up with the sole purpose of cataloging and arranging the jumbled mess of release dates into a simple to use colour coordinated calendar.

The site also has a very attractive information page for each product that tells you everything you need to known about your most anticipated release, one down side is that the site currently only caters for the US, hopefully a European and even Asian calendar will be included in the future.

So here is the new trailer (Below) for Golden Axe: Beast Rider and it looks very nice, But this isn’t a new Golden Axe but more of a re-imagined version, a Re-Boot if you would of the classic game, there is still Gillus the dwarf and Ax Battler in the game but they are only part of the supporting cast of this game as the main hero is an Amazonian called Tyris Flare. Capcom Lifetime Sales

Filed under: Industry News, Latest News, Microsoft, Nintendo, Retro & Arcade, Sega, Sony | Comments (2)

For a company sales figures are great because it shows you how much money you’ve made, so for Capcom these figure must be very pleasing indeed.

Tellingly though, it also shows us which games from Capcom’s cannon have proved most popular over the years. Taking an older franchise like Street Fighter or Mega Man you can see that the older titles in the series proved more popular than newer versions, with three early Mega Man games as opposed to the one Battle Network game showing up in the chart.

If that tells you anything it should be to bring back the old Mega Man. (Read on …)

Portable Dreamcast

Filed under: Latest News, Retro & Arcade, Sega, Video | Comments (2)

Not the first portable Dreamcast I’ve seen, or even posted, and probably wont be the last one either.

The other Dreamcast mod in my opinion had a slightly better case to it, mainly because it had been specially moulded around the modded Dreamcast. This one on the other hand utilises an old jewellery case and it does detract from the inner beauty of the skill required to do this.

It’s nice to see that even though Sega has given up on making console the fans haven’t

Sonic Unleashed **Update**

Yesterday we posted the alleged Sonic Unleashed video! Well it turns out that it’s looking more like the real thing rather than a fake and I do say that i’m getting more and more excited about the idea of Sonic coming back to the front line of gaming!

Also apparently, the sonic team + the developers from Japan, Europe and the States will be working on this with a huge production budget so I think it’s clear that SEGA finally could be rebuilding Sonic: Better, Stronger, Faster!!! And it’s about time too. (Read on …)

Dreamcast Involved In World Domination Plot

Filed under: Retro & Arcade, Sega | Comments (0)

dreamcastscam.jpg

Do you still own a Dreamcast? If you do then you might have been interested to hear about dreamcast.com’s request for owners to register on the site, you might have even done so. The problem is that it’s a fake and is part of an elaborate phishing scam.

As it turns out the domain name dreamcast.com is no longer owned by Sega, but by nefarious scammers who are trying to get hold of Dreamcast serial numbers, exactly what they will gain from said serial numbers isn’t clear but it’s a safe bet it’s not to send you free Dreamcast games.

Sega America is yet to make an official statement about this, although a representative for Sega Japan has stated that Sega is considering “appropriate measures.”

So until Sega clears this mess up under no circumstances should you supply any personal information to dreamcast.com

Sega’s new secret console finally revealed!

This is one of the nicest handheld mods I’ve ever seen, even better than the wooden snes, which while it was very nice; it had a definite homemade feel to it. This on the other hand looks very professional, almost official and runs of just two 7.2V 3Ah R/C car batteries.

Guitar Hero: Gamer Edition

Filed under: Microsoft, Nintendo, PC, Sega, Sony, Video | Comments (1)

guitar_hero_logo.gif

While researching YouTube for something else entirely, I came across a large collection of custom gaming tracks for Guitar Hero.

I realise this is not unusual and certainly not new either, just search for your favourite game and somebody somewhere will have made a guitar Hero track out of it. This got me thinking because even though my skills on Guitar Hero aren’t exactly legendary, one major obstacle between me and guitar super stardom is not knowing or caring who most of the bands are.

If however a guitar hero was made that comprised of gaming classics, I might be inclined to push my skills past the first stage.

Here’s a taste of what we could expect if company egos, IPs and royalties played nice, just once. (Read on …)

Hulk Site Goes Live

Filed under: Latest News, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega, Sony | Comments (2)

Hulk

The official website of the video game tie-in for the upcoming Incredible Hulk goes live.

Not much else can be said so I will refer back to a press release made last year.

“Under the expanded agreement, SEGA will develop a title to be based on Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated The Incredible Hulk feature film.  Hitting theaters June 13, 2008, the film will return the larger-than-life Super Hero to the roots of the long-running comic series and television show with an all-new action-packed storyline directed by Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed).  The Incredible Hulk video game will be released in the same timeframe as the film.  Games based on Captain America and Thor will follow, though the timing of those feature film projects, currently in development, has not yet been determined.”

Even though the first Hulk film was critically praised, it seems it wasn’t too popular with the movie going public, which is why the studios have green lit this new “reboot” of the hulk franchise (first rule of reboot is you don’t talk about reboot).

Personally I try to be positive about new creative works, be it movie or video game, but when a studio is trying to pretend a movie doesn’t exist and then makes exactly the movie all over again, with a different cast and crew you have to worry.

Fortunately Sega has the rights to the Hulk game as well as Iron Man and Thor, so even if the film is rubbish the game has the potential to be great arcade fun.
“Video games are an ideal medium to showcase the appeal and excitement of our Super Hero franchises,” said David Maisel, Chairman, Marvel Studios.  “SEGA is one of the industry’s most innovative game developers and we are thrilled to partner with them to bring Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and Thor to the video gaming arena.  These franchises represent three of Marvel’s most popular characters and lend themselves to captivating game play.  We have already seen SEGA’s passion for the Marvel Universe through the early development of the Iron Man video game, and we look forward to working closely with them over the next few years to maximize the potential of these franchises in the interactive entertainment space.”

Sega Lets Of Some Steam

Filed under: Latest News, PC, Sega, Steam | Comments (0)

Sega Steam

Really bad puns aside, great news for Steam and Sega lovers.

Sega Rally is now available on Steam, also joining shortly will be Universe at War: Earth Assult, Sega Rally Revo and The Golden Compass.

These new additions to Steam are part of a Sega and Valve agreement to deliver new Sega games via Steam, Games previously only available in America have also been released in Europe. This new line up for Europe include OutRun 2006, Medieval II and Rome: Total War.

Currently Steam is offering a $5 credit for a limited to any purchases made on Steam, so there’s really no excuse, is there?
