The Pixelation forum have challenges on a regular basis where by the forum members can enter works of art specific the the requirements of each challenge. This time around the criteria was to de-make a modern game to within the limitations of the graphical power of the humble Game Boy. The results speak for themselves, with all manner of games de-made including The Legend of Zelda The Twilight Princess (above), to Bioshock, Yoshi’s Story, Burnout and Boktai (shown below) all getting me excited for games that do and will never exist! New Resident Evil 5 Trailer

An extended version of original trailer, this looks absolutely stunning although not as revolutionary as Resident Evil 4, but still, it promises to continue the high standard set by it’s predecessor.

DC Online

Filed under: Latest News, PC, Sony | Comments (0)

one minute DC Comics is nowhere on the gaming horizon, the next it’s got a Mortal Kombat mass up, a publishing deal with Capcom and now details of DC’s MMO have shown up. Sounds like they’ve taken a few leafs out of the Marvel marketing strategy, although lets hope they don’t follow Marvel in the bad games department.

Key Features of DC Universe Online:

  • Based on the distinctive, acclaimed artwork and designs of comic book legend Jim Lee.
  • Iconic DC Comic settings and characters, from Gotham City to Arkham Asylum, Batman to Blue Beetle.
  • Players can enter a persistent DC Universe and fight alongside their favorite heroes and villains to play their own adventure in the mythology of these legendary characters and locales.
  • DCUO will be an online world that stays true to the DC Comics property and allows players to feel and act like super heroes or villains.
  • Physics-based fighting turns vehicles, streetlights and other players into weapons, resulting in dynamic combat scenarios that are different every time.

DCUO is being developed by Sony Online Entertainment and is only slated for PlayStation 3 and luckily enough PCs too. (Read on …)

Space Chimps

Filed under: Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony | Comments (1)

I saw the trailer for Space Chimps a while back and I must admit it looked generally appealing, not sure what it was, maybe the space setting or mickey take “right Stuff” theme, or maybe it was just the monkeys (chimps) either way I’m tempted to see it. The game is out tomorrow and if you want to follow the adventures of Ham, Titan and Luna after seeing the film you might want to take a look at the following. (Read on …)

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

Filed under: Latest News, Microsoft, Sony | Comments (0)

The Mortal Kombat series is something of a curiosity, no matter how many times a bad one is released and how badly the game is slated Midway will always make amends by working on a new one.

The funny thing is the controversy once associated with Mortal Kombat is almost forgotten and it’s almost as if nobody cares about it anymore. Roll up MK Vs DC, a game on paper that probably shouldn’t work, gaming’s blood thirsty whipping boy verses some of the most clean cut comic book creations ever inked. The comparison quite conversely sounds like it belongs in print as an epic matchup between good and evil.

Good or bad the game will be with us this autumn for the Xbox and Playstation, follow the link to read up about the features and some screen shots. (Read on …)

Mega Man 9 Trailer

Filed under: Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, Video | Comments (0)

The latest trailer for Mega Man 9 sets up the story by showing the introduction to the game as well as some snazzy editing splicing in some awesome gameplay footage too.

A word of warning for the uninitiated, in anticipation of Mega Man 9 and it’s throwback to 80’s gaming I decided to have myself some old school Mega Man loving. I’m embarrassed to admit that after playing the original game I came away having my arse well and truly kicked. Needless to say I’m determined to recapture my 80’s gaming mojo and best Mega Man, I think that all these fancy 3D graphics have softened me up over the years and I’m not as hardcore is I think I am!

All indications point to Mega Man 9 being every bit as hard as the original it’s trying to emulate. which is great news indeed and should blow away some of the cobwebs of living on rich 3D grahpics these past 10 years.

Max Payne Trailer

Filed under: Latest News, Microsoft, PC, Sony, Video | Comments (0)

I’m not the biggest fan of video game movies, in fact I’m not fan at all. I see Mortal Kombat as the best of a very rotten pack and it’s only an average move. I will treat any announcement of said game movies with scorn and avoid them like the plague when they get released (usually direct to video).

which is why with a hint of humble pie I present the Max Payne trailer because dare i say it, but it actually looks quite good. If it is any good it will no doubt topple Mortal Kombat off it’s mediocre throne.

Lego MMO Artwork

Filed under: Latest News, Microsoft, Nintendo, PC, Sony | Comments (0)

The artwork and logo for the still in development MMO Lego game should give an indication as to how the game will play when it’s finished. I suspect if you play Lego Star Wars, Indiana Jones or the upcoming Batman games you will have a pretty good idea of what the game will be like, only more massive, with multiplayer and contained within an online world. Jokes aside if done correctly this could be a great addition to the already growing Lego gaming cannon. (Read on …)
