Deep Silver and Square Enix Team Up To Unleash Dead Island


You might be interested to learn that both Deep Silver and Square Enix will be handling the publishing duties for Techland’s zombie holiday game. Deep Silver has got Europe covered and today it has been announced that Square Enix will cover the Americas. I’m not sure where that leaves the rest of the world but the press release states a world wide release later this year, so I wouldn’t worry.

Dead Island is a game billed as a zombie slasher with an emphasis on melee combat, character development, weapon customisation and a splattering of RPG elements. It also promises a gritty campaign available in single player or four player co-op and after that very clever teaser trailer has a lot to live up to.

Especially since, in my opinion the zombie genre itself has been smelling a bit like a rotting corpse of a zombie for a while now. If this game doesn’t set the zombie world a light it might be time to stop flogging the undead horse.
