Valve has stated that the downloadable content for left 4 dead will be available to both PC and Xbox users no later than April 20th. Those of you thinking “this is Valve, they never stick to deadlines” might think differently when they hear that Left 4 Dead will be re-released on 21st with the extra content bundled on the disc and they want the DLC available before then.
For those unfamiliar with L4D, it’s comprised of 4 campaigns each set to a specific theme (No Mercy campaign is a city scape) and then split across 5 chapters. All of these campaigns can be played both online or off, but only two can be played in verses mode where players take it in turns to be the Human and then the zombies. The DLC will rectify this by making all campaigns available in verses mode and it also adds the new survival mode to the mix too.
Survival mode will be similar to Gears of Wars Horde mode and Call of Duty’s Nazi zombie mode, but will also stay true to L4D’s gameplay style. When Survival starts you’re given all the time in the world to prepare for the zombies by collecting ammo and such, but once you hit the go button be prepared to be knee deep in zombies. IGN has played survival and by all acounts it was very brutal, Valve has even stated no one has managed to stay alive longer than 9 minutes.
