Its funny, the subject of the Lego games came up in conversation the other day and my thoughts on the subject were that after the first Harry Potter title, TT Games would logically move back to comics. After all, they’d tapped out two of Lucas Arts’ franchises and Batman is still selling, not to mention that Lego had been producing Spider-Man toys since around the time of the Spider-Man films.
To prove my well thought out logic wrong TT games and Lucas Arts are teaming up for a sixth time to bring us Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars this Autumn.
LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will include all the characters from both seasons of the hugely popular animated television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as well as some fan-favourite characters from the beloved theatrical Star Wars Saga. The game will feature brand new battle modes, giving players unique, head-to-head combat and an upgraded level builder, allowing the creation of customized bases and in-game battlefields. Play either as a Jedi or Separatist with all-new character abilities, such as Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups, all within a new, easy-to-navigate hub.
I’ve just recently started to play Lego Indy 2 and while the new level hubs were an ingenious addition to the now worn formula I feel that it was at the cost of reducing the rest of the game level of a party game. I hope that Lego Indy was merely a prototype for the changes we can expect from Lego Harry Potter and Lego Star Wars III Clone Wars.
