Point and click adventures are a dying bread these days, so much so that what once was a thriving genre is now exclusive to a few titles. Like the ever popular Sam & Max series but if like me, you find the humour a little too forced and the 3D art direction not living up to its 2D predecessor, maybe you should check out Machinarium.
Machinarium has been floating around the Internet for a while and its even picked up a few awards during its gestation. Finally, it was released yesterday and from the brief time I’ve had to play Machinarium, its been a joy through out. Don’t take my word for it of course, you can view the trailer below and if that takes your fancy you can play the demo online now. If that suitably impresses you, then you can upgrade the demo to the full game for $20 and as an added bonus you get the soundtrack too.
Also for the Steam users out there, you can get it on Valve’s online platform too. Non-PC gamers will have to wait a while though because even though Amanita Design are in talks for a Wii, Xbox and PS3 version its just that, talk and quite some time away.
