I’m a sucker for browser based games from time to time. Sure they lack depth sometimes, but this is the arena for quick addictive game play that you can spend a few minutes or a few hours enjoying some innocent gaming. Plus I <3 free stuff so web based games are right up my alley.
I admit that the world of browser based games is a flooded community of some really talented people. The only problem is sifting through the dirt to find a piece of gold. With that said, I have stumbled upon a little gem called Magneboy found on the website Nitrome
Magneboy is really simply a puzzle game at heart. It’s cute and very simple to get the idea of what you need to do fairly quickly. You just move your little robot with your arrow keys trying to solve your way to the exit. If you are particularly thick headed when it comes to these types of things, you are also given little helpful instructions at the bottom of the game screen.
“Now, what makes Magneboy special? What’s his hook?”, you ask. The answer is magnetism. This guy can pull himself to a distant platform depending on if he has a clear line of sight to a metal platform. You guessed it, this is where things can get tricky. As you progress through each level you are given a new type of obstacle or a new type of platform you are able to manipulate. You will soon find your self pulling around floating platform (one may even be the key for the exit), avoiding sleeping monsters, and pulling yourself to distant areas.
This is challenging, fun, and addictive. At least until you get mad at yourself for not being able to figure out the puzzle at hand. There are 50 total levels, so your bound to find one that is going to frustrate the swear words right out of your mouth. I told Magneboy where he could stick his wind up key on a couple occasions. In the end I really did like this game. I poked around on this site for a while before I found this one and I was stuck playing this longer than any of the other games I had launched. Give it a go and let us know what you thought. Go right to Magneboy here.
