All in all, it’s a good day to be Nintendo. Despite all the doom and gloom in the world economy, the games giant has today reported that there annual operating profit has more than doubled this financial year – smashing many of their own records.
Clearly you don’t need to be a brain surgeon to know that demand for the Wii, the DS and its games have been huge and this has clearly contributed to the huge surge in profits. In the last year, Nintendo has reported selling 18.61 million Wii consoles and 30.31million Nintendo DS’s helping Nintendo on its way to record profits.
All in all, Nintendo’s operating profit for the last financial year stood at £2.4billion pounds compared to a ‘pitiful’ £1.1billion in the previous year.
If that wasn’t pleasing enough, the future also looks rosey. Nintendo are predicting another strong year in 2008/09 but did conceed that growth would slow.
Well done Nintendo
