Those of you looking for something from Square Enix that isn’t Final Fantasy (perish the thought) and maybe something a little bit more direct in its action, might want to cast their eye over Nier. Nier is the latest action RPG to be announced from the company, which oddly isn’t a Final Fantasy game (seriously where do they all come from), although in truth Square Enix is only handling the publishing duties.
The game is being developed by cavia, who has produced a lot of anime licenced games, in the form of: Steam Boy, Ghost in the Shell, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z and most recently Death Note. Other notable titles include: Resident Evil: Dead Aim, Dragon Quest and Bullet Witch, if that sounds up your street, then read on for the synopsis.
Nothing is as it seems in Square Enix’s latest action adventure game, set in a crumbling world plagued by disease and dark, unrecognizable creatures. Players assume the role of the unyielding protagonist, NIER, resolute in his quest to discover a cure for his daughter, who is infected with the Black Scawl virus. With powerful allies and a mysterious book, NIER encounters things that will confound even the mightiest of warriors. With NIER, experience seamless in-battle cinematics and explore hauntingly familiar lands, intense action-packed battles, and storytelling like only Square Enix can do.
