The success of the Wii has made it difficult to pick on up from retailers since its debut in December last year.
In an interview with Mercury News, Nintendo’s hard man Reggie Fils-Aime has pledged an unprecedented supply of Wiis this Holiday Season, but added that the Wii will still be hard to get hold off.
“We are flowing more and more product into the market place. The amount of Wii hardware that will be in North American stores will be unprecedented. Substantially more than the launch, substantially more than has been seen to date,†Reggie told the interviewer.
Nintendo’s production has been blighted by supply issues, when earlier this year Nintendo experience circuit board shortages meant they failed to keep up with demand. Although the supply boost will help with shortages Mr. Fils-Aime added
“Given the level of demand and given the fact that the more we put in, the more we sell, it is still going to be difficult to get your hands on the Wii,â€
Rounding up the interview Mr. Fils-Aime stated
“Currently Wii demand outstrips supply on the worldwide basis,â€
So there you have, from the horse’s mouth more Wiis are coming but there are still no guarantees you will get one.
