Like it or loath it, the Halo universe is huge. Now spanning over ten years, the franchise has produced six games (including Reach), countless books, a slew of anime and its own army toys (OK, collectible figurines). That is a lot of information for one person to digest, which is why an online Halo encyclopedia was started, so that fans could keep track of the many happenings within the universe. Now Halo’s... So with the ever nearing release date for Halo 3: ODST (22nd Sept) some lucky people have had a chance to already play the game. Two of these people are Brad and Jeff from Giant Bomb.com, and they are nice enough to have done a video of what we are to expect in this new game from the Halo series. By the looks of things in the video (below) not too much has changed apart from you, you are no longer a Spartan but... (read more »)
July 21st, 1999, that’s the day Halo was first introduced to the public, the event was Macworld in New York. On center stage Steve Jobs passes the baton to Bungie co-founder Jason Jones to handle the unveiling and the rest, as they say, is history. What I find difficult is that its been ten long years since this event and in that time the Master chief has gone from the unknown upstart to a fully fledged... (read more »)
Here we go, both of Bungie’s next two Halo games. Halo 3 ODST and Halo: Reach, not a lot of information is known about either games at the moment. View the footage to find out more, although ODST will be “dropping” 22 September and with it comes beta participation for Reach. Oh and just in case you were wondering it stands for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. Halo 3: ODST Halo 3: ODST Gameplay... (read more »)

A few days back Bungie announced it’s Render-to-Video service had gone into testing phase and that If you hadn’t already gotten into the beta, then don’t bother trying. Aside from announcing the beta service in one sentence and then announcing it was closed in the following sentence, this service when finalised will pave the way for players to easily share their Halo games. Anyone interested... (read more »)
Bungie had promised it’s community a few months back that a render to video service would be made available to all members at some point in the future. That service is still some away from fruition, but Bungie now feels it’s time talk a little more in depth about what to expect from the service and to tell everyone that public beta is open. *By Open, they actually mean closed because it was opened... Had a stressful day today? If you have, then maybe this Halo 3 montage will help wash away the day. Put together by GeneticSpartan to match the lyrics of the soothing “Colors” by Kira Willey, it features none of the standard Halo 3 action like guns, explosions or tea bagging. What you will see is the beautiful scenery and the odd spartan running about, each sporting the colours mentioned in the song.... (read more »)
It’s one thing to be able to create really good Machinima, it’s another thing entirely to seamlessly merge the second dimension with the third. Tyler Gregory (GeneticSpartan as he is known to his spartan buddies) has done just that with his follow up to Mario Vs Spartan, as you’d expect from a sequel it’s bigger, better and has a higher body count. One sequel rule it doesn’t follow is... (read more »)
Due out with Halo Wars and available separately via live is the Mythic Map pack for Halo 3. Little information is known about the three maps, but the one raising the most questions is the Sandbox map which as the name suggests enables players to create their own maps using the new tools included. Just like an episode of “Lost” Bungie’s comments last week about the second limit to the map making... (read more »)
Another marquee title, another special edition to go with all the marketing and noise, this time around it’s Halo’s first foray into the the RTS world that’s getting the special treatment. A few years ago might have gotten excited, maybe I’m showing my age or maybe a few years ago special editions were quite uncommon and therefore more exciting. Either way the general trend for myself is... (read more »)

As a kind of parting gift for the Christmas period Bungie has given the world a shot from the soon to be released Mythic maps. More specifically the image is for the Orbital map, which is the second map to be teased to the public. Assembly has already been tested by a select few, but up until this image was posted not much had been shared about Orbial or Sandbox, which the name suggests will be an open plan map... It looks like Halo Wars is coming along very nicely, and just to show off how nicely Microsoft and Ensemble have got some new images for us. Halo Wars is set during the early period of the Halo wars to a time before the Master Chief and sets in motion the events leading up to Halo 1. The game was created from the ground up for the Xbox 360 console and controller in mind and is being developed by the veteran RTS... (read more »)
