Super Smash Bros Coming To VC

Super Smash Bros. Is coming to the Japanese Virtual Console in January and with such an early date there’s no reason to assume that America and then Europe will get it next year too. It will be priced at a princely sum of 1,200 Wii points which is 200 more than the standard N64 rate, the Japanese also had to fork out extra for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time too. With the original Smash Bros. Being...  (read more »)

Secret of Mana is finallly here.

For people like me who lost many weeks of their lives playing Secret of Mana the first time can now loose even more weeks because Nintendo of Europe unveiled this week’s Euro/Aussie Virtual Console games and yes “Secret of Mana” is one of them..! Now I still don’t know why Japan and North America have had this since September and October but i’m just happy that we have it now, and when I...  (read more »)

Megaman DLC

Capcom’s continued love for the blue bomber gives us a fresh set of challenges with Megaman 9.

The content will be separated into three easily digestible chucks, although swallowing the in game beatings may not be as easy. Anyone who thought the game was already hard will be disappointed to know Capcom aren’t making it easier but harder, much harder. Soon the option there will be to play the game on hard mode, or on expert mode and finally special time attack mode which adds an extra robot in the form of Fake Man.

So, You Think You’re Hardcore?

Mega Man 9 should have completed it’s wold wide introduction by the end of the first week of October, with all platforms and regions dealing out mega busting justice to anyone up to the task. For some of the young ‘uns out there who never experienced Mega Man in the 8 bit era, the games’ difficulty might come as a bit of a shock. For the rest of us old folk there’s a question on weather...  (read more »)

Mega Man 9 Box Art

When I saw this I was both officially mind blown and totally confused because why does a digital game need a box? I was brought back down to Earth very quickly after discovering it’s not really box art, but a promotional press pack with the CD containing artwork, game information and screenshots. Capcom are however considering making a limited number of these for the Capcom store, but the 200 proposed is so...  (read more »)

Hanabi Festival 3

Wow, is it that time already? These Hanabi Festivals seem to just roll around so quickly (not that i’m complaining). The hottest news is that Super Mario RPG finally gets it’s PAL release and also Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels becomes a permanent addition to the VC. Hopefully Nintendo will have a few more tasty treats for us over the month long celebration. The following Hanabi Festival games are...  (read more »)

Mega Man 9 Achievement List

The excitement for Mega Man 9 has just about reached fever pitch now and to help continue the buzz a list of the achievements have been published. The original Mega Man games have a reputation for being very hard and are not games for gamers who are easily frustrated. This is something i reacquainted myself with when playing the original Mega Man on the Virtual Console recently, where i found even completing a...  (read more »)

Mega Man 9 Soundtrack

Fortunately for us gamers Capcom understands that there is a market for game music (or a least they understand there’s money to be made from it). So it comes as relatively no surprise to find out that the yet unreleased Mega Man 9 is getting the soundtrack treatment. In fact MM9 is not getting just one soundtrack, it’s getting two compilations, the first CD will include all 35 tracks tracks from the...  (read more »)

Mega Man 9 Wii Ware

Mega Man goes back to his roots and loves it up retro style in an 8 bit side scrolling shooting fest for the Wii Ware. US gaming mag Nintendo Power has revealed that in Mega Man’s next installment the blue bomber returns to his traditional gameplay style, and on top of this he’s also going 8 bit too. In a move to appease fans of the original series, developer Inti Creates, who created the Mega Man...  (read more »)

OFLC Rates Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG has never been released outside of Japan and the USA, it was one of those titles that came late in the life cycle of the SNES, just like Secret of Mana 2 which never made it out of Japan. The logic was that the N64 would be arriving on the scene and nobody would want to bother with 16bit when they could have 64 bit games instead. The Playstation 2 has proved that previous generations can still...  (read more »)

The Slow Decline Of the Virtual Console

It’s no secret the Virtual Console has been going though a bit of a drought of late, both with quantity and far more worrying in quality too. The down turn in releases could be due to WiiWare’s recent arrival, coupled with the new Nintendo Channel which offers DS downloads. Both of which could be seen as rivals to the Virtual Console, a service that offers titles Nintendo have already made their money...  (read more »)
