When I first saw this picture I thought it was some clever fan art crossed with Batman that was too high brow from me to understand the connection. After a bit of digging it turns out it’s a proper advert made by advertising company Coloribus to promote the return of Tetris (duh!) to Hangame. You’re probably wondering where the hell Tetris went for it to “return” and what is this Hangame when it’s at home?
Well, Hangame is a popular online gaming portal in South Korea, similar to Valve’s Steam client which offers a wide variety of games, including the newly returned Tetris. At some point (I’m not sure when) the licensing agreement for Tetris ran out and Hangame decided not to renew. After a while without the puzzle game it became clear to Hangame that it’s users generally wanted the game to return to their servers and so after much hype and fanfare, which included these advertising images Tetris has returned.
And the all lived happily ever after.
