The Art of: Street Fighter

Ok so here is the 4th instalment of “The Art of” and like the 3 posts before (Left 4 Dead, Megaman & Punch Out ) I have tried to find some of the best pieces of artwork from the web and put them together for you viewing pleasure and for this post I thought as Street Fighter seems to be back not only with the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix but Street Fighter IV it would be nice to check out what people have been up to.
First up are these two pieces (above and below) from Canadian artist Bobby Chiu and I have to point out that you would not want to run into the “Street Fighter Gang” in a dark alley somewhere..!
Next is this great image of properly most famous lady in Street Fighter Chun Li..!
This is in my opinion a “work of art” and I think I will go as far as saying this is one of the best images of Miss Li I’ve ever seen! It has been done by Deviantart user: Artgerm
Other work also involves some even more outstanding versions of Cammy, Sakura and two montages of other challengers (below)
It does look like Chun Li is the main focus when drawing anything from Street Fighter so I have given up fighting it and here is the most realistic Chun Li you are ever going to see (Unless you could Lana Lang from Smallville?) The below image was made by Capcom Unity user: miket and boy would I like to meet the person that modelled for this image…
And finally I thought I would share with you all the “Most Valuable Piece of Original Videogame Art” (or so i’m told..!) By UK artist Dave White.
Yes that’s right the above image is the “Most Valuable Piece Of Original Videogame Art” yet it looks like it would be found outside on the back of a factory wall, but I guess art is art, or something like that.
The estimated value for the piece is said to be between £7,000 and £10,000. Which is shall we say a lot for something that measures 5ft x 4ft isn’t it..!
Anyways I hope you have enjoyed the art and as usual keep an eye out for the next issue of “The Art of”
