Touchscreen GP2X F200: More than meets the stylus

gp2x

Gamepark holdings have unveiled the release date and the price of the upcoming GP2X, the touchscreen enabled F200. Not only is this little puppy sleeker than Willy Thorns head it also comes ready loaded with Linux and a media player for all your open scource pleasure. It supports Divx and Xvid out the box, as well as the new SDHC cards, which allows you to carry arround 32GB of films and games and block rocking beats. Whats that I hear you say? free open scource games and applications… thats not all, as with the GP2X not only can you get games for free, you can also get other consoles for free bundled in, in the form of a rather formidable list of available emulators including

Nintendo: Nes,Snes,GBA Sega: MS, GG, MD (+CD), Misc: Mame, CPS2, Amiga, C64, PC Engine, NeoGeo + pocket, PSX (more for sport than playability)

It also supports a few pc games, such as Doom (all), Duke 3D, Quake 1 + 2 and ScummVM games!!

This device is so much more than similar devices you may have seen out of China, for a start there are legit games in devlopment for it, and it comes with its own complete SDK to encourage users to make their own content. If I had the money I would be £125 poorer mid October and grinning like a Cheshire Cat.
