Mock Up Frenzy!
Filed under: Arts & Crafts, Latest News, Microsoft, Nintendo, Retro & Arcade, Sony | Comments (0)The Pixelation forum have challenges on a regular basis where by the forum members can enter works of art specific the the requirements of each challenge. This time around the criteria was to de-make a modern game to within the limitations of the graphical power of the humble Game Boy. The results speak for themselves, with all manner of games de-made including The Legend of Zelda The Twilight Princess (above), to Bioshock, Yoshi’s Story, Burnout and Boktai (shown below) all getting me excited for games that do and will never exist! Daniel Roswell @ 7:03 pmRed Alert 3 - “Talent” Trailer
Filed under: Latest News, PC, Video | Comments (0)To anyone who’s ever played these games, Command & Conquer has always been about the cutscenes. Red Alert, to me at least, was always “C&C without Kane”. Sure, the gameplay tended to be better, but Kane was what really mattered.
This time round it’s different. This time round it’s personal. This time round, Red Alert 3 is “C&C without Kane or Lando Calrissian or that bloke from Starship Troopers/Total Recall”!
Ever since RA3 was announced, the question was always going to be “Can EA outcheese Billy Dee Williams & Michael Ironside arguing about the best way to blow everything up?”
With the new cast announced at the Leipzig Games Convention, EA is certainly giving it its best shot. We’ve got Lisa Hunter from Hollyoaks, John Abruzzi from Prison Break, J. Jonah Jameson from Spiderman, Governor Weatherby from Pirates of the Carribean and the smug, bearded, tubby chap from almost every B film ever made!
Oh, and Sulu seems to have been taking lessons from the Klingons. Right on.
Neil Atkinson @ 2:16 pmProject RPB has Risen
Filed under: Latest News, PC, Video | Comments (0)A couple of years ago, things looked pretty grim for Gothic fans. With the release of a rather buggy Gothic 3, tensions between publisher Jowood & developer Piranha Bytes heightened & the future for the series was uncertain.
Now, with Jowood having announced both Gothic 4 & an expansion pack for Gothic 3 and PB revealing this trailer for Risen (previously Project RPB), things are looking up.
All I can say is that if PB manage to combine the atmosphere and story-telling of their original Gothic with the graphics in their new trailer, then this is one gamer who is going to feel ruddy bloody good!
Neil Atkinson @ 2:15 pmSpace Invaders Pillow
Filed under: Latest News, Merchandise, Retro & Arcade | Comments (0)
Not content with allowing Nintendo to be the only company to squeeze the life out it’s classics, Tatio is joining in with of all things a set of pillows.
These pillows are part of the 30th Anniversary of Space Invaders and Taito’s been celebrating the historic event with numerous merchandise offers, the latest being these pillows. While these pillows are awesome I can’t help but think they’re lacking a duvet to accompany them, they feel like only half of a product. The cynic in me suspects that will arrive later. (Read on …)
Daniel Roswell @ 1:04 pmVideoGamesLive comes to town
Filed under: Events, Latest News | Comments (0)
Of course, VGL tours all over the world, so I ought to point out that the town in question is London. And why does that matter? Two reasons: (a) Tickets only (finally) went on sale last week; and (b) It’s the nearest venue to the Levelselect team’s home town!
The orchestra is appearing at the Royal Festival Hall for one night only - Friday 24th October, as part of the London Games Festival. There are two performances on the day and tickets are available from the VideoGamesLive website. We’ve got ours already, so we’ll see you there!
(Oh, and in case you were wondering, the pic is of last year’s costume competition winner. Don’t you feel thirsty just looking at him?)
Neil Atkinson @ 10:47 pmDark Horizon
Filed under: Latest News | Comments (0)OK, there are over forty images for this Dark Horizon post, which bears no connection to one of my favourite movie websites. This space combat simulation follows along the same lines of classics like Wing Commander and Freelancer, with special features such as full ship customization, original weapon creation, joystick support, and several modes of combat.
A small back story and some key features are also included, just hit the jump. (Read on …)

Daniel Roswell @ 3:04 pmTeram Fortress 2 Free Weekend
Filed under: PC, Steam | Comments (0)As we’ve come to expect from Valve from their Class specific updates a free weekend follows, and here it is!
To take full advantage of this offer you need to have a fairly decent PC and Valve’s Steam platform (which can be downloaded here), once it’s installed you will then need to download the Full game of TF2 which is free until Sunday evening.
Also for anyone who has purchased Team Fortress 2, a guest pass should be ariving in your Steam Profile about now and you can offer it to any of your friends to trial the game after the weekend is over.

Filed under: Latest News, Nintendo, Smash Bros. DOJO | Comments (0)Funnily enough I was talking about Home Run distances the other day, and is it me or does it seem that Masahiro Sakurai just can’t quit the Dojo! My own personal attempts at hitting Mr Sand bag can’t exceed more than the 500 metre mark, but as you will see from the information below there are some truly exceptional distances. (Read on …)

Daniel Roswell @ 10:43 pmTiger Woods Makes The Jesus Shot!
Filed under: Latest News, Microsoft, Video | Comments (0)Bugs are an unfortunate and sometimes unavoidable part of gaming. When you actually think about the many thousands of lines of code and the man hours of testing required, it’s fairly reasonable to allow the occasional flaw. Although in Tiger Woods 08 one incredible glitch that should have been found and removed was the ability to walk on water, shown in the above video. (Read on …)

Stuart Witts @ 2:12 pmIntroducing the Tii Shirt!
Filed under: Apparel, Nintendo | Comments (0)
Yes I know it’s not the most original name but I’m a sucker for all things exploded, and to have an exploded diagram of the Wii-mote on a Tee is very cool indeed!
Use the wrist strap so the only place you’ll have to see the insides of the beloved Wii Remote is on this t-shirt. This isometric exploded view was handcrafted and placed on a soft American Apparel shirt with a few hits of teal ink. Game with style.
This tee will set you back $20.00 from Wire and twine.com

Daniel Roswell @ 1:45 amMeet The Sandvich Video
Filed under: Latest News, PC, Steam, Video | Comments (0)![]()
One of the Heavy’s unlockable weapons is actually food and is called The Sandvich.
It tastes as good as it looks and heals 120 health. Like in real life, the decision to eat a Sandvich must not be taken lightly; The Heavy is completely vulnerable during the four second eating process, and his loud, happy sounds of vigorous chewing will draw enemies like tiny ant cowards to a picnic. OF DEATH. On the bright side, the Heavy’s Sandvich supply is unlimited, so his only real concern is being caught short while enjoying this delicious edible device. The Sandvich is a great tool for a Heavy defending an area, as it gives him the ability to replenish health between enemy waves without having to abandon his post. Similarly, an offensive Heavy without a Medic can step back from the front line and grab a quick snack before resuming his rampage. Beware, however: the Heavy must set aside his shotgun to take the Sandvich, and enemy Snipers are much more dangerous for a Heavy wielding only a minigun.

Daniel Roswell @ 1:30 amNew Resident Evil 5 Trailer
Filed under: Latest News, Microsoft, Sony, Video | Comments (0)An extended version of original trailer, this looks absolutely stunning although not as revolutionary as Resident Evil 4, but still, it promises to continue the high standard set by it’s predecessor.
